Terraced houses. c.1810-20 Portman Estate development associated with
Gloucester Place. Stock brick with stuccoed ground floors; concealed
slate roofs. 4 storeys and basement. 2-window wide fronts. Doorways to
right; Nos. 23 and 25 semicircular arched with panelled doors in reeded
jambs and reeded heads under patterned fanlights; No. 27 segmental arched
with panelled door and fanlight, flanked by inset Greek Doric columns
carrying dentil cornice doorhead. Recessed sashes, No. 27 with glazing
bars intact, under gauged flat arches to upper floors. Stuccowork
finished off with plat band at 1st floor level. Crowning stucco cornice
and blocking course. Nos. 23 and 25 have continuous cast iron geometric
patterned balconies to 1st floor. Cast iron area railings with urn
finials.
