Crane. Early C20. Cast iron base with wooden loading arm. Wire rope raises arm with pulley wheel, operated by hand by 2 enclosed cog wheels by rotating drum. Lever-operated brake. Arm has cast iron plaque with 'NOT TO LIFT MORE THAN 2 TONS' in raised letters. Situated at a wharf at the Retford Basin of the Chesterfield Canal (constructed 1771-77).
