GV II

Gardener's cottage at country house. Circa later C19, possibly by Henry Clutton. Coursed stone rubble with freestone dressings. Gabled and hipped roof clad in stone tiles and with deep eaves. Ashlar axial and gable-end stacks with moulded cornices. PLAN: T-shaped on plan with rear wing at centre.
EXTERIOR: 1 storey and attic. Asymmetrical. 3-window west front with cambered arch doorway to right of centre and 2-light stone mullion windows with hoodmoulds; similar window in central gable in roof above caves. Similar gable on right-hand [south] return, above canted stone bay window; stone porch to right in angle with rear wing. The gable-ended rear wing appears to have been raised. INTERIOR not inspected.
This is the gardener's cottage to Frankleigh House, remodelled in 1848 by Henry Clutton.
