War Memorial in north churchyard,
Church of St Andrew

GV II

War memorial cross. c1920. Attributed to architect Sir Ninian
Comper. Sandstone, tall octagonal columns in form of crown
post, with roll moulding and crown cap, with carved crucifix
above, facing west, with figure of Virgin Mary on obverse. 3
sided on front of shaft - St Andrew's Cross, St Mary's
fleur-de-lys and St Nicholas's anchor, representing the triple
nomenclature of the parish as enlarged c1700. Square base
incised with names of casualties on four sides. Base of 3 deep
octagonal steps.
