The Reindeer Public House

GV II

House, now public house. Mid/late C17, altered C19.
Timber-framed and plastered, hipped machine tiled roofs, red
brick chimneystacks, 3 clustered shafts in centre on ridge.
Long lean-to, partly weatherboard clad on N side. Roof sweeps
low over outshut. 2-bay front with chimney bay and 1 bay
outshut on north west forming L-plan.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys. Front elevation first floor has 2 flush
set C19 6-pane sash windows, ground floor with 2 C19 triple
sashes, with divided panes in centre, central C19 hip-roofed
porch with C20 half glazed door, C19 lean-to at right (north)
with mullion and transom 3 light bay window and C20 half
glazed door at far right. Rear outshut has hipped end, with
Yorkshire sash window on first floor.
INTERIOR: bar area now opened out with one large room, early
C20 fireplace far left, modern brick bar counter in front of
fireplace on rear wall, right of centre, which has timber
bressumer and rebuilt red brick cheeks. Longitudinal beams
with rough chamfer and tongue in each bay. Ledged and battened
door with wrought-iron strap hinges to cellar, which has
colourwashed brick walls and concrete floor. Winder stair to
first floor which has 3 rooms, one in rear outshut with ledged
and battened door. Roof has halved and pegged rafters and
strutted purlins.
