Suburban villa. Early C19, 1826 on sign. Stucco on rubble with
plinth; original grouted scantle slate roof with projecting
eaves; brick end and axial stacks. Double-depth plan with
principal rooms under L-plan roof. 2 storeys; symmetrical
3-window garden front facing road and symmetrical 3-window
entrance front to left-hand return. End pilasters with floral
decoration and anthemion mid-floor band. Original hornless
sashes with glazing bars, taller sashes to ground floor.
Central distyle porch with egg and dart to cornice; margin
pane glazing and scalloped glazing to overlights; original
6-panel door.
INTERIOR retains most of its original features of interest
including open-well open-string staircase with mahogany
handrail scrolled over newel; guilloche cornice to vestibule;
egg and dart cornice to stair hall; columns flanking entrance
to principal reception room and panelled doors within moulded
architraves. Other parts of house not inspected but said to
retain similar features in the principal rooms. One of a good
group of C19 villas.
