Town house with later shops. Early C19 with late C18 rear wing
(42A). Stucco on rubble; part scantle slate roof, including
hipped roof to rear wing, partly asbestos slate; brick end
stacks; cast-iron ogee gutters. Double-depth plan plus wing at
right angles behind No.42 (right).
3 storeys; 3-window range with central windows blind. Original
hornless sashes to No.42: square 9-pane sash over tall 12-pane
sash; later horned copy to 1st floor of No.43, C20 window
above. Ground floor has central doorway with panelled reveals
and original panelled door. No.42 has late C19 end pilasters
and consoles of late C19 shop, otherwise C20 shop fronts. 2
hipped dormers at rear.
INTERIOR: rear wing said to have C18 doorcase and plank and
muntin partitions.
