5/10001 No 4, Wilderness Cottage
II

House. Early C18 with early and mid C19 alterations and additions. Rendered timber-frame
and red brick with pantile roofs and brick rear ridge and internal gable stacks. 2-unit plan,
extended. Single storey and attic and 2 storeys. Main range has a single 2-light casement to right
with 6-panel door beyond and a boarded twin-gabled dormer above. Further casement and 2/2
sash on left end and a 4/4 sash above. Door and small casement to rear. Mid C19 section added
to right has door and casement with loft door and casement above. Interior: Ogee-stop
chamfered ceiling beams. Off-centre stack possibly an early C19 rebuild. Stair, probably of this
date, has simple chinese fret upper balustrades. Full height C18 fitted corner cupboard. Framing
partly visible. Copper survives in addition.
