Originally one house, later three cottages and currently in two ownerships. Early C17 three bay lobby entrance house refronted in early C19, probably when it was converted into cottages, refenestrated in mid C20 and No. 3 subsequently, and one bay extension added at either end in 1970s which is not of special interest. Timber-framed building refaced in red brick with grey headers. Tiled roof with 3 brick chimneystacks. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys; 5 windows. Nos. 1 and 2 have mid C20 metal casements and C20 door, No.3 has late C20 wooden casements and brick porch. Rear elevation retains parts of an outshut, a C19 brick outbuilding and some C20 extensions. INTERIOR: much of the original frame is visible internally, including jowled, posts, wall frame with panels of wattle and daub and lath and plaster and angled queenstrut roof with pegged rafters and outline of original hipped roof with gablet. Central room of original 3 bays has open fireplace with wooden bressumer with carved M upside down (as protection against evil spirits coming down the chimney), opening to breadoven and cast-iron crane. Chamfered spine beam with lambs tongue stops and similar floor joists. Similar spine beam and early C19 brick floor to original left end bay. The first floor has an early C 17 wooden bressumer and brickwork to the bedroom in the central bay, old floorboards and old doorframe. There are vestiges of a diamond mullioned window to the former rear wall. Interior of No. 3 not inspected.
