Church steps continue St Mary's Street as a main south approach to the church
dividing at the top into steps and ramps at right angles and below along stone
retaining wall to the Churchyard which has brick gateways at the head of the
steps along St Mary's Walk and returned along Church Lane. This wall forms
the platform on which the Church stands. The wall probably C15. Gates wrought
iron and brick piers Cl8.
