Terraced town houses. c.1776-88 with some alterations as part of south
side of the Duke of Manchester's development of the square on Portman
Estate land. Brown brick, the ground floors of Nos. 4 and 7 stuccoed,
No. 6 refronted; concealed slate roofs. 4 storeys and basements, Nos. 4
and 5 with 5 storeys. 3-window wide fronts. Square headed doorways, to
right except for No. 7; panelled doors and fanlights, Nos. 5 and 7 in wood
architrave cases, with half pilasters and cornices. Recessed sashes, some
with glazing bars under flat gauged arches; No. 6 has central 1st floor
window with stone Ionic columns, pediment and balustrade. Stucco plat
bands between floors and stucco cornice (stone on No. 6) over 2nd floor;
stucco or stone coped parapets. Nos. 4 and 7 retain original 1st floor
cast or wrought iron geometric patterned balconies. Cast iron area
railings with flambé torch or urn finials, Nos. 4, 5 and 7 with wrought
iron scrolled lampholders and link extinguishers. For corner house with
