Originally a farmhouse. Was the official residence of the Vice Chancellor of the University of Sussex until 1985. L-shaped C18 house. Two storeys and attic. Five windows. Three dormers with segmental heads. Faced with grey headers with dressings, quoins and modillion cornice of red brick. Parapet. Slate roof. Glazing bars intact. Small stone porch up four steps with enriched frieze and pediment over. Door of six fielded panels. The sides are faced with flints and red brick. Later addition of two storeys and three windows to north.
