Blue Cottage

II

Pair of cottages, now one house. Dated 1794, altered. Rendered plinth;
weatherboard, battered at base; brick outshut. Plain tile roof. 2 storeys;
paired 2-bay cottages presenting symmetrical elevation C20 rear outshut. Each
former cottage has doorway (now with part-glazed, small-pane, C20 double doors)
with window to outside and 2 on 1st floor, all windows having 2-light,
small-pane, C20 wooden casements, ground floor openings have pentices. C20
date plaque to centre on 1st floor. Central corniced brick ridge stack with 4
flues. Set back on right side is C20 porch with part-glazed board door
protecting present entrance. Rear: catslide roof over outshut is broken to
left of centre by C20 tile-hung gable. Interior: stop-chamfered cross-beams;
brick fireplaces.
The building was used as the Parish Poor House in the early C19.
