Formerly Martins Farmhouse. Fine C15 timber-framed and plastered house
with a solar cross wing at the north end. The timber-framing is exposed
on the cross wing and on the upper storey of the main block. Two storeys
and cellars. The upper storey is jettied on the whole front, on exposed
joists. The ground storey is faced in brick, plastered. Five window range,
lattice leaded casements. Two of the windows are flanked by 3-light high
level windows. The north cross wing gable has original bargeboards. Roof
tiled, with a fine C16 chimney stack at the north end, with 4 circular shafts
with moulded brick ornamentation and spurred caps (restored) on a square
base with 2 sunk panels on the front. The interior has original features
including fireplaces. (RCHM 5).
