Lychgate. 1871. Probably by R Brandon, as church (qv), and for A Hornby.
Stone and wood; plain tile roof with crested ridge tiles. 1 x 2 bays, gable end
on plinth. Low stone walls support arcaded wooden superstructure which has
central archway with cross-braced double gate. Decorated cusped bargeboards.
Iron Celtic cross-style finial. Interior: slatted wooden benches to sides;
slender wooden columns support central arch-braced, crown-post truss; floor of
patterned black, red and white tiles with stone thresholds. Part of the group
of church (qv), school (qv) and schoolhouse (qv, no 130) which Hornby built to
serve the 2 villages of Hook and Warsash.
