C17 timber-framed and plastered house with an adjoining building, probably
a former maltings, converted into a dwelling house and incorporated as one
tenement. Restored in the C20, with the timber-framing exposed on the front.
Two storeys. The house has a jettied upper storey on the whole front, on
exposed joists. Three window range, casements with leaded lights. The
ground storey windows have boarded shutters. The former maltings also has
3 window range of leaded casements. Roofs tiled. The house has a central
large chimney stack with attached shafts and the former maltings has a large
central gable, formerly a loft hoist. There is a modern board on the front
inscribed "From the 14th century. Rebuilt C. Elizabeth I". (RCHM 8).
