Bay House. Formerly Ashburton House 1832, by Decimus Burton. One of the large
mansions associated with Alverstoke. The south-east front shows a complex 3-storey
block with a long east wing, ending in a pavilion. The Gothic Revival style is some-
what Baronial, with gablets, and hood moulds above windows. The walling is stone
ashlar, with moulded eaves, bands and plinth. Tudor chimneys. Some original
interiors.
