Hagg Farmhouse.

II

Farmhouse: C17, with C18, C19 and C20 additions and alterations.
Partly coursed, sandstone rubble, partly timbered frame with C20
replaced washed brick nogging. Welsh slate roof and 3 brick chimneys.
Originally rectangular in plan, then L-shaped. I½ storey asymmetrical
south front. 2 2-light horizontal sliding sashes with 2 large C20
dormers above. North front has 5 by 3 timber small frames with angle
braces to wall plate, now on a blue brick plinth. It includes 2
2-light C20 wooden casements.
Interior: Shows house was originally all timber-framed, 8 by 3 small
frames,along the side. Gable-entry with replaced heck post and
screen. Chamfered beams over fire and in ground floor ceilings. 2
original, glass-less, diamond-mullioned wooden windows, both 6-light
but one partly hidden, revealed internally only. Roof truss of 2
diagonal struts on an angle-braced tie-beam, with overlapping through
purlins, the lower one with simple wind braces.
