Early to mid C19. Single roof span. Hipped slate roof. Overhanging flat
bracketed eaves. 3-storeys. No 18: 3 windows. Colourwashed brick. 3 tall
sash windows in reveals 3 panes wide; painted brick voussoirs. On ground
floor, modern plate-glass shop front; modern fascia superimposed on original
fascia which is still visible at east end over door; original cornice.
At east end, original house door with 6 moulded and fielded panels in panelled
reveals with rectangular fanlight with rectangular tracery over. Doorway
with pilasters; original cornice and fascia to shop front extends over
most of this. No 20A comprises ground floor shop to east of No 18: No
20 comprises floors above this and shop and upper floors to east again.
Upper floors of colourwashed stucco. No 20A and floors above have one
window bay on upper floors flanked by grooved and moulded pilasters with
horizontal fluted bands. 2 narrow bays to east with similar pilaster at
easternmost end. Sash windows in reveals; no glazing bars. Westernmost
window on 1st floor has fluted architrave frame with paterae in corners;
moulded cornice over with fluted band extending across whole of bay and
joining horizontal bands in pilasters. No 20A has early C20 plate-glass
shop front on ground floor with fascia over. No 20 has recent C20 plate-glass
shop front extending across whole of front.
