Canal lock, 1777, James Brindley engineer. Lock walls of brick and
stone; single upper gate and double lower gates replaced in steel.
Curved abutments to lower end of lock with flush stone quoins. Flight
of stone steps to lower canal level at each side; that to east curved;
replaced footbridge.
