895-1/2/61 No 20 Lock

GV II

Lock. 1772; altered c1785, restored 1980s. By James Brindley
with R. Whitworth and S.Simcock, engineers. Brick with stone
coping. Lock has single lower and upper gates; overflow
channel to south. One of a flight of 21 locks on the
Birmingham Canal, Wolverhampton level. (Altered c1785 - see
footnote to following entry).
