Description


OTTERTON. FORE STREET (north side), SY 0885 Otterton 7/149 Pigsties approximately 8 metres north-east of Stantaway Farmhouse 24.7.85 GV II Pigsties. Late C19. Stone rubble with brick quoins; weather-boarded front; pantile roof. Shed containing 3 pigsties facing north-west onto the farmyard. Low block with weather-boarded front containing 3 original plank doors with plain strap hinges and catches. The upper section of the front wall is a ventilator grille made up of horizontal timbers. The roof is lean-to resting against the boundary wall, its trusses based on king post truss forms. These pigsties form part of a group of well-preserved farmbuildings which enclose the farmyard behind Stantaway Farmhouse which also contribute to the charming group of listed buildings along Otterton Fore Street.
