Cottage. 1812. By John Nash and George Repton. For JS Harford. Random rubble and brick, brick lateral stacks and a stone tile half-hipped roof. Single-depth plan. Picturesque style. Single-storey and attic; 1-window range. A left-hand pent over a plank door, extends back and to the right; right-hand side service extension beneath a brick side. Leaded casements, to a 3-light front bay, and 2-light windows in the gable above. Exterior stack to the right, with 3 round stacks with faceted cut bricks and a moulded cap. INTERIOR not inspected, but reported as having a winder stair, sitting room and pantry. Arranged by Harford for his retired employees. Part of an irregular composition forming '...the nec plus ultra of picturesque layout and design,' (Pevsner). The cottages are laid out around an open green, and were modernised c1975.
