Town house. c1799. By Josiah Randell, builder, for Edward
Milford, lessee. Granite ashlar basement, local dressed
freestone above with dry Delabole slate roof and rendered end
stacks. Double-depth plan with central entrance hall between 2
front reception rooms. 2 storeys over blocked basement;
symmetrical 3-window front. Central wide elliptically-arched
doorway and distyle Doric porch with fluted columns and paired
brackets under a flat cornice; panelled reveals, panelled door
with side panels and spoked fanlight; mid-floor string,
moulded parapet cornice and C20 horned sashes with glazing
bars under shallow segmental arches with projecting key
blocks. INTERIOR: original moulded and carved plaster ceiling
cornices and bands to front rooms. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES:
wrought-iron railings flank granite-stepped entrance bridge
and stand over forecourt walls which adjoin granite steps down
to the basement.
