2 cottages. Late C16 and early C18. Chalk rubble brought to course (Cob
Cottage); uncoursed sarsen rubble with bands of chalk block to adjoining
cottage, with squared and coursed chalk to rear gabled wall; thatched roof;
brick stacks. Single-unit plan (Cob Cottage) and L-shaped plan to adjoining
cottage; 1 1/2 storey. 3-window range; late C20 doors. Cottage to right entered
from rear; late C19 / early C20 two light casements and one 3 light wood
mullioned and moulded casement. Stacks to end wall of Cob Cottage and rear
gabled wall of adjoining Cottage, gabled roof. Rear of Cob Cottage has C20
lean-to extension, bread oven projects from rear wall of adjoining cottage.
Interior of Cob Cottage: chamfered beam with quirk and tongue stop, open
fireplace. Interior of adjoining cottage not inspected but likely to be of
interest.
