1/30 Barn, partly converted to
- dwelling, 10m north-east
of Deepwell House.
GV II
Barn, built in 2 stages: 2 bays adjacent to Deepwell House of mid C16, and 2
bays added c.1600 adjacent to road. Timber-framed and weatherboarded.
Thatched roof. C20 windows and framed and boarded doors. A C17 porch at 2nd
bay from south end, also gabled and thatched. Good close-studding to both
phases; arch braced tie-beams at open trusses. The earlier section has a
crownpost roof: square post at open truss with 2-way plank braces. The later
section has a good windbraced clasped purlin roof of c.1600, and clearly
replaces part of the earlier building which was perhaps of only 3 bays.
