Two houses, formerly one. Built in two stages: a hall and service cell
probably of mid C16 (now Stoakes Cottage); and a later parlour block to right,
probably of c.1600 (now Limetree Cottage). 2 storeys. 3-cell cross-entry
plan. Timber-framed and plastered. Pantiled roofs, formerly thatched. An
axial C17 chimney of orange brick, the upper shaft rebuilt in C19 gault brick.
To left is an C18 external chimney of red brick, the upper section rebuilt in
late C19 red brick with gault brick quoins. Mainly 3-light mid C20 casements;
Stoakes Cottage has 2-light C18/C19 casements at 1st storey. An original
cross-entry doorway at Stoakes Cottage has a 4-centred arched head; C19/C20
boarded door. Late C19 or early C20 entrance porch on posts; pantiled roof
and cusped bargeboards with spike finial. 2-tier side-purlin roof. Interior
not examined.
