The Cascade

II

Cascade, partly in Rotherham parish. Late C18, some C20 rebuilding.
For the Wentworth estate. Dressed sandstone. Curved retaining wall
with lower central part; abutment walls ramp down and fan out in
downstream direction then return into bank. Ashlar copings overhang
curved section of wall; 5 stone posts slotted to receive loose boards.
A significant element in the modelling of the parkland's lakes.
