Wall with sculpted panels and figures opposite Nos 6 and 8

Garden wall with sculpted panels and figures. Third quarter of C19, wall
rebuilt C20. Panels by Samuel Swift of Cawthorne. Squared rubble wall,
stone panels and figures. Central gateway. To left is a circular deep-
relief panel entitled 'THE SICK DOG' showing a dog receiving attention while
another howls. To the right is a square panel entiled 'THE FEED' showing
horses being fed. Both are from paintings by J. F. Herring, Senior. Within
the gateway to the left is a similar panel showing a boy beside a sarcophagus
and to the right, a knight on horseback entitled 'GODFREY OF BOUILLON'.
Surmounting the wall are 4 figures: a sleeping lion to each side of the
gateway, and to far left a lion bust on top of a castle, and to far right a
single lion supporter with a shield. C20 iron gates not of special interest.
