SY 49 SW WHITCHURCH CANONICORUM RYALL

6/172 Butt Farmhouse

Farmhouse. Mid-C18 with earlier (C17) core. Lias stone sleeper wall. Brick
walls in Flemish bond with regular pattern of burntheaders. Brick plat-band
between ground and first floors. Thatch roof, hipped at left hand and gabled at
right hand. 3 brick stacks: just in from hip apex, at right brick end, at
right hand gable end. East end of the elevation is of coursed stone ashlar,
not brick. 2 storeys. 6 windows, 2 and 3-light wooden casements with glazing
bars. Wooden lintels and cills. 2 gauged brick arches at left hand. Front
door, right of centre, C20, with C20 concrete porch with gabled slate roof.
Interior: left hand and middle stacks have large open fireplaces with brick
jambs and chamfered wood lintels over. Mid-chamfered ceiling beams.
