GV II

Well house. Possibly Medieval origins, the well house has probably reused circa C16
arch with datestone 1592 probably carved in the C19. Stone rubble and dressed
granite.
Plan: Small rectangular plan well house set into deerpark walls (qv Deerpark walls
on north side of Fentonluna Lane). Restored pump within wellhouse.
Exterior: Roughly rounded headed opening to well house which is set in the slate
stone rubble walls of the Deerpark to east of Prideaux House (qv). The dressed
granite has been reused, the 2 spandrels forming the arch were originally for a 4-
centred arch and have been altered to span a narrower round-headed arch. they are
decorated with ball finials and the left hand spandrel is carved with the name
PRIDEAUX in upper case lettering. The arch is supported on circa C19 rusticated
piers with a moulded plinth and a datestone 1592 has been reset at the top.
Interior: C19 cast iron pump.
