House. Early to mid C19 remodelling and enlargement of a probably C17 or
early C18 or earlier house or cottage. Rendered stone rubble. Asbestos
slate roof, gabled at right hand end and hipped at the left hand end and
hipped end of rear wing. Large rendered gable lend chimney stack of the
right hand end with set-offs and tapered cap. Small chimney shaft over
left hand end.
Plan: possibly the higher end of an earlier 3 room plan house or a small
C17 2-room plan cottage, the higher end to the right, remodelled land
enlarged in the early to mid C19 forming a 2-room and central stairhall
plan house with a wing at the rear of the lower left hand end. the wing
has been raised and an outshut built in the angle behind the front range
possibly later in c19.
Exterior: 2 storeys. South east front almost symmetrical 3 window range.
First floor has 3 early C19 12-pane sashes. The ground floor has 2 smaller
early C19 12-pane sashes with thicker glazing bars and a central doorway
with an early C19 flush panel door and a small rectangular overlight, a
late C19 glazed porch with a finial over the gable. the rear wing appears
to have been raised land its cellar filled in.
Interior: only partly inspected. The C19 joinery seems to be intact
including panelled doors. The stairs are a C20 replacement.
