Cottage. Late C18 or early C19; altered. Brown and yellow
brick in Flemish bond, with sandstone dressings and stone
slate roof. Rectangular double-depth plan plus added annex at
left end. Two storeys with 2 windows at 1st floor. The ground
floor has a narrow window in the centre (probably replacing a
former doorway) and 2 large 2-light casement windows, all
these with wedge lintels; the 1st floor has two 16-pane sashed
windows with raised sills and exposed boxes. Gable chimney to
left. Attached and stepped forward at the left corner is an
annex on a parallel axis which has inserted openings in the
front and the left return side. The right-hand gable wall has
a doorway and various windows with wedge lintels. The garden
wall, attached to the inner corner of the annex and returned
along the right-hand end of the plot, is made of massive stone
slabs secured by diamond-shaped cast-iron plates.
