ST 40 SW BROADWINDSOR DRIMPTON ROAD

4/36 The Bricks

GV II

Attached Cottage, formerly 3 tenements, and originally a farmhouse.
c.1600 with C19 and C20 alterations. Rubble stone walls. Slate roof
with stone gable-coping at centre. 2 brick stacks, at left hand party
wall and right hand gable. 2 storeys. 4 windows, one 3-light stone
mullion at right hand ground, hollow-chamfered. C20 2-light wooden
casements with glazing-bars. Stone cills. Front door, left of centre,
plank. Pentice, thatch-roofed porch. Interior: 3 open fireplaces:
with stone jambs and wooden lintels, right hand one with filleted
stops. Stone spiral staircase, left of fireplace in left hand end.
5 ceiling-beams, very large chamfers with filleted stops. 2 early
(C17) fireplaces upstairs. Remains of plank-and-muntin partition,
downstairs, and stud partition upstairs.
