metres west of Lower Pimbo Farmhouse

Wash-house, now store. Probably early C19. Watershot coursed
sandstone rubble, slate roof, brick chimney. Rectangular
2-room plan. Single storey with a one-window facade, a doorway
offset slightly left of centre, with a board door, square
6-pane sashed window to right, gable chimney at right-hand
end. Rear has 2 square windows, one a 6-pane sash slightly
altered the other altered. INTERIOR: the larger room to the
right has a large rectangular stone fireplace containing
remains of a cast-iron range (with flat-irons in situ at time
of survey), a large washing boiler in the corner to the left;
and an original Victorian wooden washing machine with
hand-turned wooden paddles and mangle rollers. Forms group
with Lower Pimbo Farmhouse (qv) and barn approximately 30
metres south-east (qv).
