Description

LAWHITTON RURAL A.388
SX 38 SW
3/10
(W)
Higher Tregada

- II

Farmhouse. Early C19 possibly incorporating parts of an earlier building. Later
additions and alterations. Roughly coursed slate-stone, rendered to main part;
slate roof, half-hipped to left. Plan apparently developing from 3-bay house with
central cross-passage, part to right probably an extension, although it may in
fact be contemporary with the remainder. 2 storeys 3-window front to main part
glazing bar sashes, all 20-paned except one of 16 panes to centre on first floor.
Central 4-paned door (top panels glazed) under open trellised porch. Integral end
stack with red brick shaft to left and red brick ridge stack (possibly formerly
an end stack) at junction with wood lintel addition. This has boarded door to
left and Cl9 casement on each floor to right; rubblestone external end stack. 2-
storey gabled range projecting at right-angles to rear of main range has rendered
cob gable end. Interior: Inspection not possible at time of resurvey (January
1988) but likely to be of interest.
