House. c1855. By George Gilbert Scott. Coursed and squared rubble
with ashlar quoins and dressings to ground storey; close studded timber
framing above; clay tile roof; ashlar stacks of octagonal section with
crenellated caps. Vernacular revival style. 2 storeys; gable end of
main range to left, lean-to porch to right. Main range: two 3-light
stone mullioned windows to ground floor with rebated surrounds containing
leaded casements; 5-light oriel window to first floor with
wooden mullions and tracery; jettied gable has diamond pattern framing
and cusped barge boards. Lean-to porch: ogee headed board door. An
essential element of the picturesque estate village rebuilt by Scott in
the 1850's.
