Cottage. Late C16 - early C17, enlarged C17, altered mid C20. Colourwashed rough cast, thatched roof, stone stack left,
external stone stack right, inserted C20 stone stack rising from eaves to right of cross passage, stone stack on gabled
wing. 2 cell and cross passage enlarged to "L"-plan. One and a half storeys, 3 bays; C20 2-light dormer casement
windows ground floor, two C20 2-light casement windows right and early C19 3-light leaded casement window with quadrant
stays right of C20 partially glazed door. Rakingred sandstone buttresses bay end right. Interior not viewed; sail to
contain in left room spiral stair to right of original fireplace with C17 spice cupboard, chamfered beads with runout
stops, root to right of cross passage remains of bacon curing chamber now garden entrance beside stack added C17
chamfered beams with scroll stops. (VAG Report on Bottom Cottage, unpublished SRO, October 1975).
