2.
C16 timber framed building with overhanging upper storey. 2 storeys and
basement, 2 windows, and additional 1st floor window in extension over
carriageway at right. Moderately high pitched, tiled roof (probably later
than body of house) with wood, modillioned eaves cornice. Plastered
1st floor, brick ground floor. Canted bay at ground floor right. Sash
or casement windows with glazing bars (some replaced). Shouldered brackets
to carriageway arches, and exposed timbers in walls of carriageway.
C18 extension to rear, of red brick with random, blue headers, high
pitched, tiled roof, replaced windows.
Inside, very close set studs and beams visible, including some carved,
chamfered and moulded beams and posts; there has been considerable
alteration since the C16 but much of the old building remains. 2 long,
rear extensions, one probably coeval with building, the other C18.
