ST5516SE YEOVIL CP CHURCH TERRACE (North side)
5/12 Nos 5 & 6, with the iron railings
to both sides of the access path

GV II
Terrace Houses, now offices, of c1820. Brickwork, colourwashed, with Welsh slate
roof having plain verges to gables. 2-storeys of 2-bays to each house, the
terrace being built in stepped pairs of which 5 and 6 are the highest. Central
doorways on either side of the party wall; the doors, having the upper panels
removed for glazing, are set in semi-circular arched openings and have fanlights
over with radial glazing bars: wrot iron brackets for curved porch hoods survive
(they may not be original) but the hoods have gone: the windows are 16-pine
sashes, one to each floor of each house - all glazing bars intact. The side
elevation to No. 6 also brick colourwashed, and set high in the gable is a
circular window with square panes, probably early C19: the windows to ground and
first floors C20 middle casements. The interiors not seen. The extensions to the
rear (now known as No 7) not included. The boundary railings of this pair more
elaborate than the remainder, almost certainly early C19: the matching railings
on the other side of the footpath extend to the limits of No 6. A stepped
terrace of houses with, Nos 1-4 Church Terrace (qv), are an important element in
the setting of the Church of St John the Baptist.
