Farmhouse and attached barn and former stable range. Mid C18 house and
stable range, barn late C18 -early C19. Coursed grey gritstone, graduated
stone slate roof. 2-storey, 2-bay house with further l-bay, former stable
range to right, 3-bay barn to left. Quoins. House: board door to right of
centre, in plain stone surround; similar surround to flanking and first-
floor 3-light flat-faced mullion windows. Right bay: enlarged cart
entrance with quoined left jamb, the right jamb and lintel rebuilt.
Bulbous kneelers, end stacks to house. Barn: central projecting cart porch
with double board doors; quoined jambs to byre door on left. Rear, house:
2-light flat-faced mullion windows to ground floor right and 2 to first
floor, with a tall 2-light stair window to centre. Added outshut to left
not of special interest. Barn: central winnowing door in plain surround,
small loading door to left and right. Right return: external steps to
board door with quoined jambs and high lintel. Interior of barn: 2 pegged
queen strut trusses, one bolted king-post truss. House interior not seen
at resurvey; the position of the front door suggests that entrance was
originally directly into the front room. The quoins suggest that the barn
was the first stone building, the house and stable range added. Barn
included for group value.
