House, now shop and office. Early to mid C18 with early C20
and later alterations. Brick; tile roof with brick cross-axial
stack. L-plan; front facing Church Street. Georgian style. 2
storeys with attic; 3-window range. Top wooden cornice. Ground
floor has early C20 shop front, contemporary with that to No
66 Church Street (q.v.), with black glass fascia and entrance
to canted angle with overlight to glazed door, which has
decorative glazing bars in sunburst pattern. Entrance to King
Street to right. 1st floor has 3 windows with rubbed brick
segmental arches over 8-pane horned sashes; attic has 2 hipped
dormers. Shop front continues along King Street elevation;
small gabled wing has 2 rubbed brick segmental-arched window
heads over 3 inserted windows. INTERIOR: some chamfered beams
to ground floor. Building forms important element in Church
Street.
