Formerly known as: Nos.22 & 23 Burtons MARKET PLACE.
Shop. Dated 1935 on plinth. Designed by Burtons the Tailors
house architects. Brick, with stone dressings and marble
plinth, roof not visible. Single side wall stack. Modified
Classical Revival style. Fascia cornice, stepped coped
parapet. 3 storeys; 3 window range. The first and second
floors are treated as a single unit, with a central recess
containing paired giant Ionic pilasters. In the centre, a
steel cross casement and above it, a similar French window
with wrought iron balcony. Beyond, on either side, a single
narrow casement on each floor. Ground floor shopfront has
bronze glazing bars. Central recessed glazed double door
flanked by single pane windows with patterned toplights. Right
return has similar treatment, with a recess containing 6
pilasters and 3 casements, with a French window and balcony
above each of them. Single narrow flanking lights on each
floor. Ground floor has 3 single pane shop windows, the right
one bricked up and a door inserted late C20. Included for
group value.
