GV II
Public house. C17 and early C19. Timber-framed and rendered
with gabled concrete plain tile roof. 2 storeys with attics on
continuous catslide roof over single storey rear extensions.
Large central ridgeline stack and 2 gable end stacks.
EXTERIOR: 4 gabled small dormers in front roof slope with
2-light casements each with a single horizontal glazing bar.
Modillioned eaves cornice and 4 double-hung sash windows with
moulded surrounds and one vertical glazing bar on first floor.
2 circular moulded plaster frames and central rectangular
moulded frame with semicircular top, in centre of first floor
to frame painted sign boards. Painted timber fascia board at
first-floor level. Ground floor has 4 similar double-hung sash
windows aligned below those above, two C20 entrance doors one
with sidelight. Black painted plinth.
INTERIOR: C17 timber frame with central stack bay, mostly
chamfered with lamb's tongue stops. Spine beam on ground floor
has moulded timber corbel.
