Pair of attached houses. Early C18. Render with limestone dressings, central stack and pantile hipped roof. Double-depth plan. Each of 3 storeys; 3-window range. A symmetrical front has rusticated pilasters to a coved parapet cornice, and string courses to storeys on No.65. Outer doorways, that to No.65 with a semicircular-arched doorway, fanlight and 6-panel door with narrow margin lights, No.67 has a rectangular overlight and good shell canopy on carved brackets to a 6-panel door. 6/6-pane sashes with exposed frames and reveals, 2 on the ground floor. The basements project to the road front, faced with squared, coursed rubble, and segmental-arched doors; entrances have a brick surround with a carved animal on top to No.65, and tooled Pennant ashlar piers to No.67. The rear has a semicircular-arched stair window to No.65, and drip moulds over windows to No.67. INTERIOR: entrance hall with semicircular arch to rear dogleg winder stair with slim turned balusters, curtail and column newels, and wreathed rail; stair widens toward the bottom; front rooms divided by segmental arch with panelled doors; 6-panel doors and shutters. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: attached wrought-iron railings to paved areas over basement, and to entrance steps. The most complete of the early C18 houses in St Michael's Hill, and graded accordingly.
