Lock cottage. Early C19 with later additions. Built for Grand
Junction Canal Co. Painted brick. L-plan. Hipped slate roof with
overhanging eaves, ridge stack and lateral wall stack. 2 storeys,
3 bay symmetrical front with central doorway with C20 door,
flanked by single glazing bar sashes. Above, a range of 3 similar
windows. All openings have flat, rubbed brick arches and window
sills each have 2 brackets. Elevation facing lock has 4 similar
windows and a lean-to porch with C20 door. Adjoining lean-to is
a single storey office of. painted brick with pyramidal slate
roof, single tall stack and a single glazing bar sash window with
flat arch facing lock.
