NW of Corner Farmhouse

GV II


Barn. Circa late C18 or early C19. Weatherboarded timber frame
on tall brick plinth in Flemish garden-wall bond. Gable-ended
roof clad in corrugated iron sheets. Plan: 4-bay barn on north
side of yard and later outshut on north side. Exterior: North
elevation has large later lean-to outshut on left and loft
doorway on right obscured by C20 silo. South elevation facing
yard has doorway on right. Interior: 4-bay frame with mid rail,
studs, straight tension braces, cut jowled posts with curved
braces to tie-beams, queen-struts to collars and clasped purlins
above, common rafters and diagonal ridgepiece.
