Barn, and Stable
II
C17, C18. Five-bay barn with a central projecting entrance on the north-east side,
with a stable (of later date) attached at the north end. Steep hipped old tile roof.
Red brick walling in English bond, high plinth. The interior has been modernised as a
squash court, but the Queen Post roof construction is exposed (with R S J tie-beam) and
there are heavy timber beams within the entrance . The stable is of 2 storeys, 3 bays,
with a hayloft door above the entrance; the lower walling is in header bond and the
upper of Monk bond, suggesting the raising of an e arlier structure. There is an open
shed on the north-east side.
