10/5 The Gables and The Croft

House, now two. The older part (The Gables) C18, with mid and late C19 extensions
(to both). Walls of brickwork in blue headers with red dressings, rubbed flat and
cambered arches; some walls of Flemish Garden Wall bond with blue headers, some
Flemish bond: brick dentil eaves to part, some gables tile-hung, with scalloped
bands. Tile roof, hipped above a forward extension. The Gables has a symmetrical
south-east front of two storeys three windows. Upper sashes lower casements.
Doorway with cornice on pilasters, and 6-panelled door. The westward extension
(the Croft) of the original house is irregular, with a projecting front wing of
two storeys two windows, sashes. At the rear there are four gables of different
size, on two separate planes, as well as single-storeyed gabled service wings.
The Croft is included for group value.
