Tythings Cottage

GV II


Cottage. Early - mid C19. Timber-frame with brick and plaster infill
and slate roof; large rubble chimney to south east with detached brick
shaft, brick extension to north west. 2-room front with one room extension
to left. 2 storeys, 2 + 1 windows, metal casements, weathered hoods to
south west ground floor windows, gabled porch and C20 door to centre of
main part. First floor joists appear to south west front; very thin scantling,
single pegged timber-framing on rubble plinth, frame partially substituted
by brick (e.g. quoins on right hand corner). Gabled dormer to extension faces
north east.
